Volunteers serve as a vital component of The ALS Association Iowa Chapter’s vision, mission, and core values by supporting staff, events, programs, services and most importantly, people with ALS and their families. Our programs and services for people living with ALS and their families would not be possible without volunteers.
We have a number of volunteer positions available throughout Iowa. Whether you are looking to volunteer one day a year at a special event or weekly for a family affected by ALS, we have something for you. Please see below for information on our volunteer opportunities. Below is a description of the volunteer programs and opportunities offered by The ALS Association Iowa Chapter. For current volunteer opportunities, please see the current needs lists below under each volunteer category.
Volunteer Family Assistance Program
Living with ALS makes daily tasks more challenging. The family assistance program matches trained volunteers with families affected by ALS. Volunteers can help a person living with ALS or their family with anything they might need assistance, outside of direct care and transportation. By volunteering for a family affected by ALS, you will decrease stress, increase the quality of life for the person living with ALS, and make life a little easier for the whole family.
Learn more about how you can assist a family affected by ALS by visiting our family assistance program page.
To apply to assist a family affected by ALS, please fill out the volunteer application.
If you are a person or family member affected by ALS and would like volunteer assistance, please visit the family assistance program page for information on how to submit your request.
